To understand the establishment of Women Willing to Stand, we must first learn about the woman behind the ministry. In her past, Dr. Priscilla G. Vandross (also affectionately called Mother Vandross) had endured deep emotional hurt and pain. At birth, satan tried to kill her through the power of witchcraft. Most of her childhood years were those of tears, fears, and loneliness. She knows very well what it is to be pushed aside, alienated, and ridiculed.
After the death of her father at 12 years old she experience loneliness in a different way. She searched for the arms of someone who would understand, love her and fulfill her emotional needs. The hand of the enemy was upon her, and his plan was to destroy her life. Mother Vandross’ search came to an end when the Lord delivered her from the bondage of sin.
In July 1992, while in Philadelphia, Pa, Mother Vandross received a prophecy concerning women’s ministry. In 1993 she attended a women’s conference where the Holy Ghost spoke to her concerning youth ministry for girls. In that same year, she started a Youth Ministry called Youth Sealtime Ministry at Emanuel Baptist Church in Summerville, SC. The spirit of the Lord continued to deal with her about ministry for women. Women Willing to Stand was ultimately birthed. This ministry ministers to women by teaching, encouraging, and loving them to freedom.
Mother Vandross discerns pain, loneliness, and despair from women she comes in contact with. She is confident in her calling to teach, support, and love women. Mother Vandross knows she has been redeemed from her past, and her future is to deposit love, encouragement, and hope into other women. She stands as a willing vessel and allowing the Spirit of God to have his way in her life. She also walks in the office of a prophetess. The Almighty God has made her a women of strength and freedom. Her desire is for teenage girls, young women, and older mothers to be encouraged and loved through Women Willing to Stand Ministries.
